hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Charleston Tea

Charleston was the first place tea was grown in the United States! Tea made its way to the United States into the Lowcountry outside of Charleston, at what is now called Middleton Place, by the French botanist Fancois Andre Michauz. Charleston still grows descendants of these tea plants.
